Relive the Last 20 Years With the Number One Rock Songs
Do you remember what you were doing and listening to 20 years ago?
It is scary how fast time flies. One day you're asking your parents for money to go see a movie with friends and calling them collect when you're ready to be picked up, and the next you're doing the same for your kids (minus the collect call.)
Just as time never stops, neither does music. Today we are going on a musical journey together to relive what life was like for the last 20 years when it comes to music. Check out the list below as we travel back in time to the year 2000. We are going to check out the number one rock song for each year from 2000 to 2020.
Keep in mind, Billboard uses a lot of different metrics to name songs number one and such. This particular list is simply showcasing the songs that spent the most weeks at number one on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart each year.
2000 - 3 Doors Down "Loser"
"Loser" spent 21 weeks at number one after we all survived Y2K.
2001 - Staind "It's Been Awhile"
'It's Been Awhile" spent 20 weeks at number one in 2001. I graduated from Swartz Creek in 2001. I don't even remember what our class song was but I know it was not this one. I'm sure it was something terrible though.
2002 - 3 Doors Down "When I'm Gone"
"When I'm Gone" was number one for 17 weeks in 2002.
2003 - Staind "So Far Away"
