Paul Shaffer To Debut Symphonic Works Saturday Night With KSO
Musical legends is a term that is too easy to toss around, but this Saturday night, a true musical legend will be performing with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra at Miller Auditorium.
Paul Shaffer. David Letterman's band leader, he's worked with darned near everyone famous in music; don't believe it, look at his Twitter feed. He's been the musical director for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies - since the first one, in 1986. He was in the Saturday Night Live crew at virtually the beginning, and on his latest album, Bill Murray sings.
The KSO website describes Saturday night's show as this:
Shaffer...shares symphonic renditions of his favorite pop, R&B and Jazz tunes.... will also take you on a fascinating journey with his stories, reminiscences, and anecdotes.
The set list features everything from The Beatles to Motown to epic movie themes.
And Shaffer is bringing with him true Motown legend, Valerie Simpson, who with her late husband Nickolas Ashford, wrote classics like "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"
