We’re getting closer to legal recreational marijuana sales in Michigan. A state regulatory agency is issuing the state’s first recreational licenses. The first is being granted to Ann Arbor based Exclusive Brands. It’s approval was fast tracked since it’s already licensed and operating a medical marijuana outlet. A company spokesperson says it’s ready to offer sales to adults within 2 weeks. Also receiving the initial state licenses are a testing facility, PSI Labs in Ann Arbor, and a company in Kalkaska that plans to organize marijuana events.

The City of Battle Creek meanwhile has approved 6 different types of licenses for recreational marijuana businesses but so far does not have the recreational application process ready. Several city departments and lawyers need to sign off on everything before the process is officially opened.
