Watch This 1980s Promotional Video For Kalamazoo County

I recently came across a movie that was no doubt a film strip played in a school and after watching it, there's no doubt it got the treatment I gave film strips in middle school.

Don't get me wrong, as an adult I love this kind of stuff, but when I was in 7th grade, I lost count of how many filmstrips my teacher played in our Social Studies class, and how many times I fell asleep during those as well. It's really the kind of thing I fall asleep to today as an adult, but it's a really fun look back on Kalamazoo County's history.

It's really a promotional video produced by Maxwell Advertising, Inc. and Lawrence Productions, Inc. for the Kalamazoo County Convention and Visitors Bureau from the 1980s.

It features a video montage of the Kalamazoo community and the surrounding area with music by the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. In it, you can see classic footage of the Kalamazoo Mall, Bronson Park, WMU sports, Warner Wine Haus in Paw Paw, WMU and KVCC campus, and some skyline shots from the time as well.

There are also some other cool videos on Kalamazoo from as far back as the 50s up until the 80s and a few years back there was some color footage that was released from Kalamazoo from all the way back in the 30s. So just in case, you may have slept through this one in school, take 10 minutes and relive some old stock footage of Kalamazoo County for fun.
