As Lynyrd Skynyrd has cancelled, Don Felder will take the stage. Here are the Eagles' songs you can expect to hear and who else will be joining him.

It was disappointing when we learned just a day before the concert that Lynyrd Skynyrd would not be performing at the Jackson County Fair. Worse yet, it feels like we have been here before. The Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour, one final curtain call for the rebels, kicked off in May of 2018. Lynyrd Skynyrd was booked for the Jackson County Fair in August of 2020 before the Coronavirus shut everything down.  Back on the road in 2021, everything was going fine until Gary Rossington, the last founding member of the band, had emergency heart surgery in July. The band soldiered on without him until Ricky Medlocke tested positive for COVID-19.

Don Felder will fill in, but don't expect to hear "Free Bird." It's a good bet you will hear "Hotel California." Felder played lead and rhythm guitar, banjo, mandolin, pedal steel guitar and organ and sang with Eagles from 1970 until their breakup ten years later. He was a part of the reformation in 1994, but was fired in 2001, prompting a $50 million lawsuit. Although the case was settled out of court, he has since filed subsequent lawsuits against his former bandmates.

In happier times, Don Felder played on the albums On the Border, One of These Nights, Hotel California and The Long Run. With Don Henley and Glenn Frey, he co-wrote "Hotel California," "Those Shoes" and "The Disco Strangler." J.D. Souther is credited with the trio for "Victim of Love," and Felder also has a writing credit on "Visions" and "Too Many Hands." His best-known solo track is the title song from the animated 1981 movie Heavy Metal. His concerts these days sound like Eagles' greatest hits.

Jackson County fair is offering a full refund to any dudes who may not be Eagles fans, or a $35 credit to attend the Don Felder show with Blackstone Cherry and Walker Montgomery. If there's any good news for Lynyrd Skynyrd fans, the band may be rethinking retirement.
