Detroit’s ‘Temple Of Void’ Signs With Relapse Records
Today is a huge day for heavy metal and Michigan, as the Death/Doom Metal band 'Temple Of Void' out of Detroit have signed with Relapse Records, joining bands like Dying Fetus, Mastodon, Neurosis, and Pig Destroyer. I was lucky enough to help set up a music video with these guys a few years back and I knew then what Relapse knows now, they deliver something really unique and nasty to a metal scene which is making a comeback.
In a release yesterday, Relapse announced: Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of Detroit, MI based death/doom legion Temple Of Void! Temple of Void are currently writing their Relapse debut, their 4th full length, set to be released in 2021. Stay tuned for more information in the near future.
On getting signed, the band exclaimed their excitement on joining the label:
The pandemic may have stopped us playing shows, but it can’t stop us writing a new record. We’ve been hard at work ever since lock-down started, crafting new songs and exploring new ways to expand and hone our signature sound. Never a band to write the same album twice, our debut for Relapse will both be familiar and new all at the same time. Echoes of the past will meet with glimpses into the future. Each record we write stands on the shoulders of the prior albums, and this is no different. We’re beyond fucking excited to get into the studio next year and track this beast.
Temple of Void is an uncompromising collaboration from the depths of Detroit. Comprising of five musicians who have put in decades of time in the Detroit underground, ToV entered this world with singular focus and methodical execution from the start. ToV harkens back to the somber sound of early British doom, while channeling the energy and devastation of old school American death metal. But ToV is far more than the sum of its parts. Temple of Void destroys.
