Boil Water Advisory in Battle Creek Cancelled
The initial advisory was announced around Noon after a 30-inch water main near the Verona Pumping Station was struck near the Canadian National Railroad yard by an electrical contractor not associated with Consumers Energy. The strike forced the decrease in water pressure in one of the large water transmission lines, enough to possibly allow for contamination.
Tests were completed Wednesday afternoon with the water coming back with no contamination. The City has mentioned that discoloration still may appear for a short period of time. There are few tips on what should be done to eliminate the discoloration, with a cold flush of water. The City has also advised residents that are expecting to use their washer in the near future and if customers have a water softener.
