What I call “laughin’ and scratchin’, I’ve been doing a long time. I grew up in Chicago, and the long and winding road of radio brought me to Kalamazoo in January of ‘87. Had an awful lot of fun at one special radio station, next door, but like Tom Brady, let’s see what we can do here. Both my sons were born here. Michael lives here and is a long time Rocker listener, and David is now living the dream in Chicago, hoping to be a comedy writer. Proud to say they're my best friends, as is the love of my life, Kathy, the hottest woman alive.
Is Kalamazoo’s Gull Road About To Become Like Westnedge Or West Main?
Driving home from work this week I saw a couple of things that got the wheels chugging in my brain. The first was earthmoving equipment across Gull Road beginning the demolition process on what was the Gull Road Automotive station.
Detroit Tigers’ Secret Weapon Makes The Baez Signing Even Better
We all saw the headlines when the Detroit Tigers signed former Chicago Cub and New York Met Javier Baez to a $140 free agent deal. In many ways it's maybe a better deal than if they'd gotten Carlos Correa. Correa maybe a better shortstop, but the Baez deal is a lot more financially manageable, and Baez' defense (critical to playing shortstop) is not his problem. His defense is quite good, and he has a World Series ring under his belt.

For The 80th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor, Kalamazoo Restored Bomber Is In Hawaii
They are the words of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt that many of us know all too well, "December 7th, 1941. A date which will live in infamy". The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii began the United States' entry into World War II. The 80th anniversary of the attack is this coming Tuesday.
CVS Closing 10% Of Its Stores. Are Kalamazoo, Battle Creek Safe?
Here we go again. CVS, the nation's largest drugstore chain (in terms of market-share) has announced it will be shutting down 10% of its pharmacies in the next three years. Thanks to online retailers like Amazon, the company is also working to change its business model away from just selling drugs by adding "health hubs" that provided some medical care and services.
Michigan Contractors, Benton Harbor Wants You For A Big Project
The City of Benton Harbor's goal is to replace pretty much all the lead water pipes going in and out of homes, in the next 18 months. While that may sound like a lofty goal, it's going to need a lot of skilled tradespeople to pull that off. While local contractors will have the advantage being near by, the city of Benton Harbor is looking for additional contractors for service line replacement and also, two plumbing inspector jobs have been posted by the State of Michigan.
Cranberry And Pickle Pie. Is This A Michigan Thing For Thanksgiving?
There it is...feast on it. Cranberry Pickle Pie. I get a lot of grief from my friends because I like tuna or sardines on my oatmeal. My argument is always, oatmeal is a grain, just like rice, and you wouldn't say anything about tuna and rice, huh? But I saw this on my social media. Cranberry pickle pie.

Chicago ‘Fans’ Chanting ‘Fire Nagy’ At Son’s Game Is Way Out of Bounds
Bears coach Matt Nagy will probably be replaced if not this week, then after the season. But these are human people, and they do have families and kids. And those kids don't deserve to be ragged on. That's out of bounds. Way out of bounds.
