Detroit Tigers fans learned Thursday afternoon about how much fight they have left in them this season.

After benches cleared three times resulting in eight ejections, the Tigers avoided a three-game sweep from the New York Yankees with a 10-6 victory, wrapping up just a two-win homestand.

Jose Iglesias drove in four runs on the afternoon behind a three-hit day. Justin Upton (27) and James McCann (12) each launched homers, both solo shots.

The Tigers bullpen held it together after a rough start for Michael Fulmer, who allowed five runs in six innings in the no-decision. Alex Wilson (2-4) got the win in relief while Shane Greene got the final five outs for his fourth save.

The Motown Cats now head to Chicago to begin a three-game series with the White Sox. The two teams are holding up the final two spots in the American League Central Division, with the Tigers ahead of the Chi Sox by 5 1/2 games. The Tigers will see the White Sox in seven games before the end of the year, with a 3-6 record against them so far.

It can all change this weekend with a good start from Justin Verlander (9-8, 3.96 ERA) Friday. The White Sox will send out Miguel Gonzalez (7-10, 4.44 ERA). Catch the game following High School Football Friday night on 95.3 WBCK!
