Do the kids get bored riding in the car on Fall road trips? Experience the wonder of Michigan Autumn by rail on the Pumpkin Train.

Michigan has not one, but 2 pumpkin trains and they are not too far from the greater Kalamazoo area. Each trip lasts about 90 minutes and the steam-powered locomotives run weekends in October.

The Coopersville and Marne Railway, about 20 minutes Northwest of Grand Rapids, offers "enterTRAINment" packages on the historic railroad they call The Great Pumpkin Train. The Grand Pumpkin, Scarecrow and Little Crow will entertain kids in the passenger car and the little ones get to choose a pumpkin out of the patch at the end of the ride to take home.

Little River Railroad traverses the countryside between Coldwater and Quincy each Sunday in October. Note: in answer to the question "Is the train heated?" they say "to the best of our ability. keep in mind the train is antiquated. dress appropriately."

A Fall chill in the air is perfect weather to enjoy the wonder and beauty of Autumn in Michigan with a pumpkin spice latte or fresh cider, looking out the train window at the colors on your way to the pumpkin patch.
