Battle Creek Fire Chief Resigns
The City of Battle Creek has begun a search for a new fire chief. Fire Chief Dave Schmaltz resigned Thursday after serving as Battle Creek’s Chief since February of 2014. Schmaltz has been on leave-of-absence since February of this year in order to "focus on his personal well-being and to consider his future options."
City Manager Rebecca Fleury noted in a press release, “We are thankful for Chief Schmaltz’s leadership and work with the Fire Department during his tenure with us, we wish him well, and we will engage in an open and inclusive process to find the next leader for our skilled and capable Fire Department team.”
